Waterpark operators have made an important and
profitable discovery: variety is the spice of life--and profits. Of
course, this is not a
new discovery. Amusement park operators have been aware of the
importance of variety for years. The roller
coaster -- the mainstay of the amusement park -- is an excellent
example.
Roller Coasters and
Waterslides
In every successful amusement park, you'll find several different
kinds of roller coasters, ranging from the older, traditional types
to the high-tech, 360-degree looping, corkscrewing hair-raisers.
They come in every shape, size, speed and configuration imaginable,
and they draw crowds in unbelievable numbers.
Waterparks, too, have a mainstay: the waterslide. But in the past,
most waterpark operators have fed their customers a steady and
generally boring diet of open-flume waterslides which typically are
almost identical to one another.
Only recently have some of these operators started to experiment
with basic slide variety, which concept has proven to be very
successful. The search for viable alternatives, however, in the past
in the relatively new waterpark industry has not been successful
because of limited options.
The Tubular
Alternative
One company -- Splashtech, Inc.-- has finally made waterslide
variety an economical and profitable reality. This Utah-based firm
created and developed the enclosed tubular waterslide concept, and
has become the industry leader, offering a varied assortment of see-
through tubular slides and other exciting aquatic attractions
(including a full line of open-flume slides).
The Company generally recommends use of open-flume slides for half
of a waterpark's waterslide capacity, and different kinds of tubular
waterslides for the other half. Tubes are cost-effective, safe,
incredibly exciting, and the crowds go crazy when they see the
variety available.
Tubes, Whips, Blasters and
More
Two of the most popular variations of the company's well-known
Splashtube waterslides are the Splashwhip (a boomerang speed slide)
and the Splashtube Jr. (a smaller-circumference, full-length version
of its older brother).
However, those are just a few of the attractions in Splashtech's new line.
The Company has also developed a number of other complementing, exciting attractions.
Splashtech's new product line--which has been referred to as "the
new generation of aquatic attractions"--can be installed individually
to complement existing facilities, or used as a major master plan
feature for new waterpark developments.
