Why do engineering and design make Splashtech
waterslides the most versatile in the Industry? See for yourself.
At a western ski resort, skiers share the mountain with a curious
twist of tubes. Hugging the hillside, the waterslide brings otherwise
dead space alive with action. Inside, it is a warm and airy illusion
even on the wintriest day.
In a shopping mall, three flumes project through the mall roof,
encircle large support columns, wind their way in and out of a restaurant
and hover over the pool. The splash down has splashed up profits
at the associated restaurant.
At a European aquatic park, the splashdown pool and stair tower
were already constructed when Company personnel were contacted who
worked within these predetermined points to add four flumes, complimenting
the swimming pools, hot tubs, mineral baths, wave pool and therapy
pools of the resort. Working with established resorts has been the
mainstay of Splashtech's business.
These unique installations have one element in common with each
other and all Splashtech designs -- creative engineering based
on exacting standards. Whether a ski resort, shopping mall, restaurant
or aquatic park, engineering is the element that makes Splashtech,
Inc. continuously successful.
Knowing the limitations of traditional waterslides, engineers took
great care to design flumes which ensured safe rides. After months
of engineering, the Splashtech fiberglass molds were made
with exacting dimensional tolerances. This precision permits a matless
ride. |
The laminate structure used
by Splashtech, Inc. for producing the Splashtech flumes also
enhances safety. Hand- lamination in its tubular products provides
for a mirror-like interior, a uniform cross section and a greater
translucency in the finished product.
The creation of a thrilling, but safe ride has always been the
concern of Splashtech, Inc. When designing a slide, Splashtech's
designers not only track the path of the water through the slide,
but more importantly, they consider how a person slides. A large
adult will not slide the same as a small child. The rider will slide
differently at the top of the slide than at the bottom; riding position
also affects the ride. These and other variables become prime considerations
because they affect the safety and the enjoyment of the ride.
Computers are used to aid in the design process. With custom software
developed especially for Splashtech's designers, they are better
able to create the dips, hairpin curves, and switchbacks which make
Splashtech Slides the ultimate in fun.
As part of the engineering process, Splashtech's designers prepare
load tables and calculations to predict the loads experienced by
the flume and how stresses are transferred to the support structure.
To aid in construction, drawings and tables detail the interface,
layout and three-dimensional location of all flume components. From
initial design through completion, superior engineering serves as
the key to a superior product. Splashtech's principals boast of
nearly a two-decade track record in the waterslide industry without
a serious incident on any of their products! |
